The fundraising campaign for the Finnish National Gallery has begun. A donation to the campaign is an act that will support the Ateneum Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. In addition, donations support the development of the State Art Collection and art-related research and education.
The Finnish National Gallery is the center for Finnish art and its collection comprises tens of thousands of works of art, considered to be our national heritage. The National Gallery operates three museums, the Ateneum Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. From 8 August 2014 to 30 June 2017, we are raising funds from companies, organizations, and private individuals for the endowment of the Finnish National Gallery foundation. Our goal is to raise 8 million euros. The Finnish state will support the fundraising by donating 2.5 euros for each euro collected. The state has already supported the fundraising by 10 million euros. By meeting the fundraising goal, we will have raised the targeted endowment of 38 million euros. A donation to the National Gallery is an act of support for Finnish education and culture. During the campaign each donor will have the opportunity to leave a message to future generations. In the year 2050, these messages will be released to be read and experienced by the public.
